model which challenges the growth-driven capitalism we’ve long taken for granted as the only way of doing business. Learn how cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Melbourne & Nanaimo are thinking of the economy, environment, housing and homelessness in a holistic fashion.

John Hankins graduated from the University of South Wales and has an Executive MBA from the University of Bath. He moved with his wife and three daughters from the United Kingdom to Calgary in 2000, and at the beginning of 2016 moved to Vancouver Island. During his time in Calgary he was Calgary’s representative on the World Energy Cities Partnership where he led the initiative to have 9 energy cities sign a Climate Change Accord. John is a Commercial Realtor with NAI Commercial and is the Chair of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) Commercial Council.
