It is impossible to get through life without varying degrees of adversity. Some of our challenges are byproducts of our choices, like moving to a new community or changing jobs, while others come into our lives like unwelcome house guests.
Like a sailboat that is prepared for all conditions, what if we could trust in ourselves to weather the storms? With a healthy resilience practice, this is possible.
Why do you need resilience? Resilience is the ability to "bounce back" or recover from challenging events. A resilience practice is critical for maintaining our mental health and overall well-being.
Over the past two years, Cindy Thompson has been studying resilience and learning from the lived experience of her guests on A Resilience Project podcast. Drawing on 30 + years in the counselling field and the distilled practices of her guests on the podcast, Cindy will introduce you to evidence-based resilience practices to help you thrive.
Topics that will be covered include:
The value of having a resilience skill set
The difference between "white-knuckling it through" and thriving
Getting clear on our values can serve as a guide in the decisions we make
How to revive and restore your sense of well-being
Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable

February is always heart month for OWBN and this year we are doubling the sentiment.
First, this is when we show our solidarity with women in our community who have been forced to leave their homes. While we fundraise year-round for Haven Society, in February we also collect gently used handbags and unopened personal items. We encourage you to bring your items or cash donations to this event where we will be presenting Haven Society with the proceeds donated throughout the year by our generous members & guests.
Second, we are going to make the evening all about you, your business or profession and what’s important to you. This evening will be all about getting to know each other and our professional & personal endeavours. Be prepared for a high energy, fun night of networking games and activities.
Event registration has now closed.
