Time: -

Both women belong to the CFUW - Canadian Federation of University Women. A group of women committed to and actively promoting equality, education and opportunities for girls and women.

Carolyn Redl - Professor, Author, Speaker

She started her first business in a time when all you had to do was put up a poster to find clients (1960). Started getting her university degree in '58 and got her Phd in 1991. A professor of English and Creative Writing, she taught at several Alberta and BC Universities.

A wonderfully insightful woman, who will share tips that she has learned along the way.

Betty Price - Midwife, Nurse, Hospital Adminstrator

She emigrated to Canada three times. She is a registered nurse and certified midwife. On emigrating to Canada she found midwifery was illegal. She took a job as the Head Nurse on maternity in the hospital in Port Alberni with the express direction to “bring it into this century”. She took a position as Manager of Professional Programs at Mission Hospital. It meant travelling back and fro on the ferry each weekend for 15 years. She became a hospital administrator.  Along the way she completed an undergraduate degree in Nursing then a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. When midwifery became legal she implemented the program for Fraser Health Authority.

Come and hear about her inspiring journey and how she overcame the hurdles she encountered.

March Dinner with Alison Donaghey – Think Opposite

Date:
Time: -

THINK OPPOSITE is a simple tool that we can use every day to improve the way we approach ideas and people.

AlisonIf you don’t question what you believe in, then what is the point of believing in it?

This is the core of what THINK OPPOSITE is about. It’s about suspending your belief long enough to consider an opposite perspective so that you can proceed with clarity. When we allow ourselves to think the opposite of what we believe we can then consider all other possibilities in between. This is important because it builds trust, communication and connection in our businesses, our lives and the world.

We spend so much time in our echo-chambers surrounding ourselves with people who think just like us that we lose sight of other people and other possible ways of thinking. We are dangerously polarized in a world that is craving connection.

Alison Donaghey instigates new ways of thinking.  A thought strategist, speaker, radio host and author, Alison challenges business owners to suspend their beliefs, think the opposite and proceed with clarity.  She creates space and strategy for business owners to question the status quo which leads to improvements not only in their business, but in the world.
